2022 is the twenty-sixth year of the Thomas Wooden Railway. Fisher-Price revamped the Thomas Wood line to return to the original name. The redesigned vehicles feature new faces and wheels, higher quality printing including on wheels, more details such as molded domes, coal and wheel splashers, and more accurate chassis lengths and wheelbases. The line features the original track system now known as Clackety Track.
Being one of the most detailed iterations of the Wooden Railway range, one of the new features for some of the steam engines is their firebox glow reflected in their cab windows and doorways.
Much like the range in 2013, any vehicle with more than six wheels has a plastic chassis instead of wood.
In addition, all tender chassis along with Nia's van are also plastic.
This range introduced counterweights; something that was only seen on two engines before, which were Big City Engine and Push Along Thomas.
This range marks the first release of Toby with six wheels.
Unlike the contemporary Motorized and Push Along ranges, the Wooden Railway range uses designs primarily based on the original television series style with a combination of the All Engines Go television series art style.
