As the senior member of the engine family, Gordon is the fastest and most powerful engine on the rails. Although he is extremely proud, Gordon is good-hearted and is always willing to help smaller engines out of trouble.

Trivia[]
- The first prototype 1993 Gordon features no face, no paint, and wheels that are entirely wooden, being held in to the bogies by nails.
- The prototype 2002 Gordon features a different shaped cab, resembling the shape of James's cab.
- The prototype 2002 Gordon is featured on the following boxes:

- The prototype 2022 Gordon box is missing the Wooden Railway logo on the top.
- Gordon is one of four vehicles to be available every year since 1993. The others are Thomas, James, and Percy.
- Gordon is one of five vehicles to have been introduced with a back ledge who never had one in 2002. The others are Thomas, Henry, James, and Percy. All other vehicles would not lose their back ledges until late 2002.
- The prototype 1999 Gordon is featured in the 2001 pamphlet. The 1993 prototype is featured in the 2001 yearbook however.
